Topps celebrates Artemis II moon mission with limited trading card

April 3, 2026

— It's official, NASA's Artemis II launch is the Topps!

The history-still-in-the-making moon mission, which began only Wednesday (April 1), already has its own Topps trading card for sale featuring a photo of its liftoff.

"Taking on the brave Artemis II journey of traveling to the moon, the four astronauts on NASA's Orion spacecraft are embracing history," reads, in part, the description on the back of the card.

The front of the card is an image of the Artemis II Space Launch System (SLS) rocket climbing skyward, backdropped by a bright blue sky, as it leaves behind a billowing white plume from its engines. The NASA logo appears in the bottom left corner of the card and the caption reads, "Artemis II: 1st Crewed Mission Around the Moon Since '72." The card is dated for "Apr 1" at its top right corner.

Here's the catch: the card is only available to order through Topps' website until Sunday (April 5) at 3:00 p.m. EDT (2000 GMT), the day before astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Hansen and Jeremy Hansen are set to make their closest approach to the moon and five days prior to their return to Earth.

The card's sale is shorter then the 10-day mission because it is part of "Topps Now," the company's print-on-demand series designed to capture real-time sports (and sometimes, world) events on collectible trading cards. Since launching the program in 2016, Topps has released more than 5,000 Topps Now cards, with the majority focused on the company's core theme of baseball.

Past space subjects have included a 2021 Topps Now card capturing the landing of NASA's Perseverance rover on Mars and a 2024 card for the total solar eclipse that was visible from across the United States.

As with all Topps Now on-demand offers, the Artemis II card is priced based on how many are ordered. A single card runs $8.99. An order of five cards reduces the per card price to $7.00 each. For 20 cards, the rate lowers to $5.00 each.

Ordering more cards also increases the chances of receiving a rarer foil or variation card. The Artemis variant features a different photo of the SLS launch, as it emerged in-flight from behind an American flag and an Artemis program flag.

The different color limited foil cards include 50 gold foil, 25 orange foil, 10 black foil, 5 red foil and one "FoilFractor." If the Artemis II card draws enough demand for either a 50,000, 100,000, 250,000 or 500,000 card print run, Topps will add chrome and opal variants to the mix as well.

Topps will begin shipping the Artemis II cards 10 to 15 days after the sale ends.

Topps will randomly insert Artemis II image variation short prints among the orders for its Topps Now Artemis II collectible trading card. One variant, as pictured, shows the Space Launch System (II) emerging from behind an American flag and Artemis program flag. (Topps)
