Failure is not an option for Kranz book tour

March 16, 2000 — Former NASA Flight Director Gene Kranz will visit 11 cities to promote the release of his autobiography Failure Is Not An Option: Mission Control from Mercury to Apollo 13 and Beyond, according to information released by his publisher Simon & Schuster. The almost month-long tour will begin April 12, the same day books are due to hit shelves nationwide.

Beginning in the nation's capital, Washington, DC, Kranz will visit stores and libraries California, Colorado, Florida, Massachusetts and Texas. He is also scheduled to visit New York City to take part in a series of press interviews.

In Failure, Kranz recounts his three decades working for NASA, offering his own perspective on some of the most famous flights in U.S. space history. He takes the reader inside mission control, sharing behind-the-scenes details that show the "leadership, discipline, trust and teamwork" that made the space program a success.
