I come back to the experts here seeking advice regarding what you believe would be the most seminal moment for Frank Borman during his Apollo 8 mission.I have narrowed down my event choices for a piece to be signed at the upcoming Novaspace signing in August and have three events in mind but can only choose one. I'm seeking your advice on the event that I will be able to tell the best story about when discussing the piece. Here are the three events I'm looking at. - 09:49:00 GMT 12/24/68 - Borman's last word "Roger" before heading around far side of the Moon for the first time.
I have a complimenting piece from Jim Lovell marking the moment he makes contact with CAPCOM at 10:24:52 GMT after coming around the Moon for the first time. - 02:59:36 GMT 12/25/68 - Borman finishes reading from Genesis on Christmas Day.
- 16:39:39 GMT 12/24/1968 - Earthrise photo AS08-14-2383 is photographed.
If you had to choose one significant time from the mission which would it be? Also, is there a more significant event that I may be overlooking? As always, your time, opinions, and expertise are appreciated. |

Does anybody from the UK have any experience or advice regarding shipping to and from the USA? I have a large multi-signed picture I'd love Mr Borman to sign, but it can't be folded or rolled into a tube, would have to be sent flat, and I'd be terrified about it being bent in the post or lost in transit. Thank you. |

Try placing the protected image between two outboard sheets of thin plywood. |

I've posted many rare and valued items to Astronaut Central for their signings and they are excellent. Post it using Royal Mail Air sure. That is their safest most secure way. Also push the boat out and pay for one of Astronaut Centrals CD to record the astronaut signing your item . It's a bit pricey but in future years you will be glad you did it. Hope that this helps. |

I'm sure the thread will work its way back to Borman-signing-specific posts, but I'll second the above recommendation. It might sound overly cautious, but I once shipped a large flat item to the UK between several sheets of hard cardboard, and when it arrived it looked like someone had used it for archery practice. A hole was through an inch of packing material and the item. Maybe you could use a thin piece of aluminum, or really hard plastic. |

Quick question: I'm looking for a good picture to send in, but I want to make sure before I purchase anything — is there anything, or any picture (outside the flown items specified in the form) that he won't sign? |

We are not aware of any picture he won't sign, or anything not explicitly listed in our fee table and instructions. If you find something you want, but are still not sure, please email an image to me. |

Only 2 weeks to the deadline for the Borman signing. Remember, we must receive your order form and items by Friday, August 21 (preferably earlier). |

Frank Borman signed everything yesterday, starting early in the morning. He was in good cheer, despite arthritis pain in his hand and shoulder. We'll start shipping items today, but it may take a week or two, so please be patient. We are working out details with Jim Lovell to have him here in early December, and will post the info when we get it. |

Just received my Borman signed Earthrise photo. As always, the package could have withstood anything the post office could have done to it. Although I have a standard autographed Earthrise by Borman and Lovell, I opted for an additional photo to include the Christmas Eve sign off by CDR Borman. As a seven year old at the time, this was the first mission I remember well. Thanks to Rob for the excellent placement on the photo. I look forward to receiving the Col. Borman photo of him and my photo. |

A big thank you to Rob, Sally, Kim and all the folks at Novaspace. Just received back my Borman signed copy of "Countdown". The pacakging could not have been bettered. At one point I thought I might have to resort to a hammer and chisel to break in to the box. Top class service in EVERY respect, as always. |

I too received over the top service coordinating the signature by Borman of two photos already signed by Lovell. I ended up with a complete crew from GT-7 on the "Ramming Speed" photo and a 2/3rd crew for Apollo 8 on the famous Earthrise photo. Reasonable price considering no extra charge was rendered for completing a crew or inscribing "GT7 CDR" or "Apollo 8 CDR." Well done NovaSpace and thanks again. Now I am looking to complete crew photos for Gemini 12 when Lovell comes to sign in December (I have the GT12 crew egressing from the crew van before launch signed by Aldrin). I also have an Apollo 13 launch photo signed by Haise I look forward to having him added to. |
