I have been busy the last couple of days and so I just noticed a couple of errors in the new R&R Auction.

Lot 551:
http://www.rrauction.com/bidtracker_detail.cfm?IN=551

This item was flagged as a forgery and should not be in the auction.

Lot 554:
http://www.rrauction.com/bidtracker_detail.cfm?IN=554

This item is not signed by Neil Armstrong. It is an autopen with what I am certain is a secretarial personalization.

I don't know how these listing errors happened, but I have notified R&R of them and they will be corrected ASAP.

My apologies.

Scott

Update: I just finished reviewing all the current lot descriptions and these two appear to be the only instances of error. BTW, I invite anyone to email me if you ever have any concerns about an R&R astronaut autograph. Your concerns will be addressed. S.

Update: Both lots have been withdrawn.

I found the Ed White letter to be interesting, as a draft form of this letter just sold in the recent Regency Superior auction. The R&R one appears to be the final draft...or a later draft.

I'm not questioning the authenticity (since it is almost certainly the real deal), just pointing out the coincidence (or not?) that two forms of this letter appeared within weeks of each other. The Regency one is said to come from the "Ex-Ed White III collection." I wonder if that is the same source for the R&R one...I would have to imagine so. In that case, I would suspect that this must be a later draft...or that Ed White never mailed this letter...or that the estate somehow got the letter back after Mrs. Kennedy read it.

Just wondering aloud. It's still a very interesting (and authentic) piece.

Both these Ed White items have been on the market with various owners over the past 2-3 years.

I don't think these have ever sold - I've seen them flogged by Ed White III for years...

Is that a bad thing?

The draft letter appears to have been sold during the Regency auction. And the R&R one also has a bid on it.

All times are CT (US)
