NOAA's DSCOVR: viewing, questions, commentsThis topic is for comments and questions in response to the updates under: NOAA's DSCOVR (Deep Space Climate Observatory). DSCOVR, or the Deep Space Climate Observatory, will maintain the U.S.'s real-time solar wind monitoring capabilities. The satellite, formerly known as Triana, will also return full-disc images of the sunlit side of Earth for science applications such as ozone, aerosols and clouds. |

Today's launch attempt (Feb. 8) was scrubbed. According to Elon Musk: Air Force tracking radar went down. Launch postponed to same time tomorrow.Probably good though. Will give us time to replace first stage video transmitter (not needed for launch, but nice to have). A launch on Monday (Feb. 9) would take place 6:07:49 p.m. EST (2307 GMT). The current weather forecast calls for 40 percent chance of favorable weather. |

Was at the webcast page back on Sunday and saw the "watching now" counter go from about 28K to almost 70K viewers during the half hour leading up to the scheduled launch. Let's hope all goes well today. |
