If it takes the space shuttle 8 minutes to get to orbit, how long does it take to de-orbit and land either in Florida or California?

From the point of the Time of Ignition (TIG) for the deorbit burn using the space shuttle's twin orbital maneuvering system (OMS) engines, it is approximately an hour before wheels stop on the ground.
You can learn more about the landing timeline on NASA's website: Landing 101.

What is the speed of the shuttle when it leaves, clears the top of the tower, on lift off?

In the six seconds it takes the shuttle to "clear the tower", it is already traveling approximately 100 miles per hour (160 km per hour).

If the shuttle is going 100 miles per hour when it clears the tower, what is the speed when it goes throttle up, and how fast is it going when it reaches orbit?
