Topic: What kind of space things are being collected?

I'm trying to get a handle on the myriad of space items that are collected. I've started a master list of items so check it out and then make your additional suggestions, comments or recommendations on how the master list needs to change and I'll update that page.Once the conversation winds down and we have a pretty decent master list, we can then have some spin-off forum discussion interacting with specific collecting areas if you like. Will a master list like this be helpful to everyone? I'm not aware of one that already exists anywhere. ------------------

Gloves are listed under clothing.The myriad of hardware items like valves will be under my existing phrase "mechanical parts". But the hardware section probably needs its own stand alone master list. Maybe after this general one is done. ------------------

Kraig-Great list! From the philatelic side, I would suggest that you can expand Paper Items "d. Stamps, First-day Issues" by adding event covers (e.g. - launch dates, landing dates, etc), flown covers (on rockets or motherplanes), and autographed covers. Best,

In Paper and Printed, item "h. Original letters, post cards, notes or correspondence" should include notebooks, such as scrapbooked "goodie books" one makes for one's own use during a mission, or manuscripts notebooks, where one documents meetings. I collect these.------------------

O.K. Kraig, but I guess for most of us, 'Clothing' sounds more like a polo or sweater with an ISS logo or collectSPACE logo on it, while most of us consider Sokol or Apollo spacesuit gloves really as 'Hardware'  |

I can see that Philip. But how would you distinguish hardware (clothing) from hardware (mechanical and electrical stuff)?I don't like the nomenclature 'clothing' either.

Recommend establishing a subcategory under hardware entitled LIFE SUPPORT and place space suit components as well as ECLSS (Environmental Control and Life Support System) items within...------------------

I think that creates a rather hybrid group; space suit components sitting alongside spacecraft parts such as LiOH canisters. It seems preferable to me to organize items in Hardware at the high levels by broader areas that relate to their intended purpose - spacecraft, spacesuit, ground support etcCheers,
