Does anyone have a transcript of the Mercury-Redstone 3 countdown that might identify why they were in a hold at T-6 minutes? Thanks. |

The NASA Mission Reports book on that flight indicates that this hold was due to overcast skies which would affect camera coverage. A problem with a power inverter was also identified and dealt with during this hold. |

On re-read I see that this hold was at T-15 minutes and not at T-6 minutes. I do not see a specific reference to the hold at T-6 in this book. My bad. |

Was it for the high pressure readings in the Redstone LOX tank? |

Yes, it was J.L., but I think it was at 2 minutes before liftoff. The pressure of the LOX inside the Redstone was getting too high. The glitch was finally corrected resuling in "bleeding off" some of the pressure by remote control. |

The event that JL and I are trying to pin down (for an upcoming book) was apparently only a slight hold at T-6 minutes. Does anyone have either a transcript or a recording of the MR-3 launch that "far back" in the count? Darned if I can find anything online, although the Paley Center has a 1:15:00 audio recording of Robert Trout. |

Let me check my media coverage files of MR-3's final countdown that hopefully would include a T-6 minutes and holding. It may take a little time though in going through all of the "live" press coverage material and I may even have an audio of it somewhere. |

This Freedom 7 video from lunarmodule5 includes some countdown audio a few minutes before launch, and mentions a hold. |
