For those interested, there's a complete set of the nine SpaceX patches just posted. These were the ones that were a limited edition of just 200 sets and were sold out in less than two days. This lot also includes a limited edition coin. Starting bid just $0.99US. Or if you REALLY want a set and missed out, a BIN price of $1,000US.  Happy bidding! |

Just to make it a bit more legit, the current high bidder is in for $202.50 and has over 1200 transactions. Somebody really wants this set.

He has just retracted two of his bids totalling $279.69, so the 0 feedback bidder is now leading at $182.19. |

If anyone wants one of these sets I have one available. I'm aware I could get a lot more but I don't want to take advantage of anyone.Will sell for £45 (UK sterling)plus postage. This is basically what it cost me to buy it from SpaceX, where the carriage to Europe was more than the patches themselves, so all I'm doing is covering my costs. Obviously this is a better deal for members this side of the pond as it is more or less what they would have paid to get one directly in the first place. Contact me directly if interested. |

And it ended up closing at exactly $200US to a bidder with a 0 history (t***f). We'll see what happens now with this set.Question - why can't/doesn't EB do something about this type of worthless bidding? |

As a seller you can block certain bids. You have the option to block bids from people with 0 feedback as well as people who have a history of unpaid items. |

A seller cannot automatically block bidders with zero feedback. However, a seller can set various other Buyer Requirements for negative feedback, unpaid item strikes, etc.Don't assume a zero feedback buyer is a scammer or shill; every buyer started with zero feedback. In over 15 years and thousands of transactions, I've never had a zero feedback buyer who was not legitimate. |

Actually, you can block 0 bidders. I have that ability on my UK eBay shop. But yes, you use the Buyer Requirements in order to enforce it, thus blocking the bidder. That said, I have only had one problem with a zero feedback account in the last 3 months - it rarely happens. |

This same lot from the same seller has been re-listed at $1,000.00 Buy It Now, and $100.00 start price on a three day listing.Update: The second place bidder from last time has now placed the first bid this time. |

It could be another separate lot from the seller. In the completed listings from the previous sale page, it says "seller has re-listed this item or one like this". The seller also has low feedback, but all positive, mostly for selling peanut butter and salad dressing coupons. Quite a step up in merchandise quality. I'm not in the market for these patches, but would stay away from this deal if I was. |

My app shows it as a re-list (not "or something similar"). It also does not have a BIN price. The only bidder so far is indeed the 2nd place bidder from the previous listing.If this one also goes the way of the first, I'd venture to say it's shill bidding. Somebody is playing games and should be reported. That all being said, I too would stay away from this auction. |

It's possible. The zero feedback bidder from the first auction only bid on this item and no other auctions. |

Just because the seller used the "Relist" option doesn't mean he's selling the same item again. It's simply the easiest and quickest way to list a duplicate item. Short of asking the seller, there's no way to tell whether it's the original item, or a second identical one. Check the seller's feedback in a week or so, and there may be feedback left and received for the first item.Apparently blocking zero feedback buyers is one of the many listing policy differences between eBay USA and other countries' eBay sites. A quick eBay community search on "block zero feedback" shows there are a lot of US sellers who would love to be able to do that. |

I agree that it's possible that the seller has/had more than one set to sell. However: - As these were limited to 200 sets and were sold out very quickly, that seems unlikely as anyone that managed to get a set is most likely to hang on to that set unless they have a reason to sell it. Steve Procter is an exception, not the rule.
- That very few of these sets have come up on eBay and this seller now has two to sell seems unlikely.
- That the first auction had let's say, "unorthodox" bidding warrants suspicion.
- That the current set was listed immediately following the close of the first set is also suspicious.
So yes, it's possible that the seller has/had more than one set, I'm just saying that to me, it's very unlikely. I think it's much more likely that they didn't sell the first set (insert your reasons here) and under the circumstances, it would appear very suspect.I'm all for giving someone the benefit of the doubt, but in this case, I'd steer clear of this auction considering the circumstances. I think any comments (if they get posted) may show that. Then again, this is in the "Opinions" room... |

This silver medallion contains part of the copper medallion which was flown on COTS-2 (the copper forms the sun). The silver medallion was produced by Northwest Territorial Mint. 
 An individual I've made deals with in the past approached me this week to see if I wanted to purchase the medallion. He felt it was a good match to go along with my flown COTS-2 patch. His asking price was $1000. I felt that was too high given the nature of the coin and also the unknowns (quantity made, etc). I ended up passing on the purchase. |

Maybe, Robert. Personally, the coin didn't "speak" to me. Only a small portion was actually flown vs. the entire medallion (like a Robbins). The quantity produced is not known at this point and other examples may flood the market in the coming months or years.Collectors may feel differently though. |

I emailed the seller asking if this was a second set of patches or a re-list of the previous set. No reply so far.Interesting to note that the seller's location in El Monte, CA is only 28.6 miles (driving miles, according to Wikipedia) from Hawthorne, CA, the city in which SpaceX headquarters is located. It seems strange to me that the seller has previously sold only food coupons and a workout DVD, then comes up with a relatively rare set of patches and a coin. Maybe selling them for someone else. We'll see. |

I know there was a limited number of 200 sets sold to the public, however SpaceX has an employee online store also. Could these sets be from that employee store. I am sure that employees have access to purchase these patches at the headquarters. Does anyone know an employee at SpaceX that could ask this question? If so then how many sets were actually made and how "rare" does it actually make these patch sets. I was fortunate enough to get a set of the limited 200 and consider myself lucky. |

Remember too though that this set did include the medal. If you have a set of patches to sell, and only the patches, expect a lower price. How much lower? Good question. I'd be interested in what the real value of a set actually is. It would also be interesting to see what the value of the 2012 set will be if/when they release a 2013 set. And yes, it's a good question also about how many sets were sold (still available) to employees at the corporate store. |

Ron, I don't know if you can still edit your auction's title, but the name of the company is SpaceX, not "Space-X" (or "Space X"). By formatting it the way you did, your auction does not come up in searches by the company's name, which could mean missing out on bids. |

Hi! I'll come out of the closet (I actually missed this thread when it started) as the winner of the auction referenced here — patches and coin. I really wanted the coin. I'll tell you that the bid was about a buck short of my max, it was a real tough call to get it...That said, I don't want the patches — I can't afford another collecting obsession. The coins are more than costly enough! I'll be happy to take a good offer on these patches (they arrived in the mail today) in either cash or trade for an interesting coin I don't have. I see all sorts of prices for the patches (both actually paid pricing from 50-150 for the set) and absurd offer pricing (150-500?!). I'm not expecting the absurd pricing and would be happy to do something here with real collectors who would appreciate it. I can list on the for sale section too, but since this thread is specific to the auction, I thought I'd go ahead and note it here. Oh, and as for the coin, I'm very curious as to the mintage — nothing is on the COA. But there is a 1923 on the rim, which might be a serial. Someone else owns one — what's on your rim? Thanks all! I should learn to troll all the forums, not just the coin section... |

Thanks for the info! I was hoping for around 100 (they seem to sell for 10-15/patch), so your news isn't great, but I understand I'm late to the scene and most folks who want one probably have a set. I had checked out patch pricing before bidding on the auction and hope that around a 100 will make the coin cost bearable (if still high!). Thanks kindly!
