I attended the NAHF dinner Friday night and had a brief conversation with Neil Armstrong about the White House appearance.All he would say is "I don't know, I don't know." I wished we could have engaged in more a substantial conversation. But he was somewhat dismissive. In any event -- he's earned the right to be that way I guess. Anyway -- that's the update |

Over the past few days I have talked directly and indirectly (through contacts) with several Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronauts regarding the White House visit and the moon rock awards. At least two of them were unaware of either and had not received any invitation to be in Washington, let alone visit with the President. Even one moonwalker was unaware of the plans for him in DC (and at least one had decided not to attend). Dismissive or telling, you be the judge... |
