I got this solar panel from the estate of a guy who worked for NASA and Yellow Springs Instrument. His widow stated it was a prototype from the Skylab project. I got some very rare Western Electric stuff there too, like a mirrorphone.

I am looking to verify whether this could be true. The construction leads me to believe it is. it is very light for its size and built on a foil honeycomb. And it still works fine, even with a few chunks gone.

Welcome to the board... what you've described so far is characteristic of many solar array's used on orbit. Photos will help - there were a couple different array variants used on Skylab to provide primary power to the flight vehicle and the ATM.

Maybe we should try a schedule on hf powered by this.

I had been asked if this could possibly have flown. I would think not as most apps for these would simply be allowed to reenter. No survival possible.
