So far I have discovered two publicly available flown melted-metal medals — the NASA Space Shuttle Program and the Apollo 17 40th — which have an employee version of the coin. The public medals are silver color and the employee version are bronze/gold color. Does anyone know of any other employee version medals? |

The Independence Plaza medal offered to the public at Space Center Houston also has a NASA workforce version, distributed through the employee exchange store. |

Seems the whole 40th anniversary series has an employee bronze series, not just Apollo 17. I just picked all of them up on the ShopNASA JSC Exchange Store website. |

After doing a bit of research, I am wondering if the medallions sold through the JSC Exchange store (referred to above)aren't actually the antiqued silver — photographed under lighting conditions which make the medallions look gold-colored. I am only aware of an Apollo 17 40th anniversary medallion in a gold/brass color. |

Very well could be — I ordered the coins last week, will let people know when get if just a "lighting trick" that changed color and they are actually antique silver.

Just an update, got the coins today — as many suspected, they were the silver commemoratives, not bronze. Just a bad lighting job on the websites part. But now at least have a full set of the Apollo coins in any case. |
