Has anyone ever seen one?</TD></TR><TR bgcolor="#333333"><TD valign=top>Robert Pearlman</TD><TD>According to NASA, no individual has ever been (officially/legally) presented with an Apollo-returned lunar sample. Per the space agency's lunar curatorial staff, the only moon rocks to have ever been released from U.S. government property were the goodwill gifts presented after the <A HREF="http://www.collectspace.com/resources/moonrocks_apollo11.html" TARGET=_blank>Apollo 11</A> and <A HREF="http://www.collectspace.com/resources/moonrocks_goodwill.html" TARGET=_blank>Apollo 17</A> missions, which were made to the populations of the states/nations to which they were gifted.Astronauts were presented with/permitted to keep some lunar-dust stained items, but that is the extent to which NASA purposely and knowingly presented lunar material.Speculating, but what the Teacher in Space candidates may have received were <A HREF="http://www.nasa.gov/centers/johnson/images/content/137274main_Moon_Rock_Replicas_high.JPG" TARGET=_blank>cast-replicas</A> of moon rocks or perhaps lunar simulant...</TD></TR><TR bgcolor="#494949"><TD valign=top>SpaceAholic</TD><TD>Ambassadors of Exploration doesnt count as an individual presentation?</TD></TR><TR bgcolor="#333333"><TD valign=top>Robert Pearlman</TD><TD>The <A HREF="http://www.collectspace.com/news/news-071404a.html" TARGET=_blank>Ambassador of Exploration</A> awards are presented in name only; the honorees do not own the lunar sample, nor for that matter does the educational institution or museum where they choose to have it displayed. The lunar samples embedded within the award remain the property of NASA and are provided on long-term loan. </TD></TR></TABLE></td></tr></table>
