Section One: Astronaut Experiences
Lot 005: Undersea Lodge Adventure with Astro/Aquanaut Scott Carpenter

For the first time in history an underwater research habitat is open to the average person, regardless if you are a sport diver or if you have never before dived!

Scott Carpenter, the world's first astronaut-turned-aquanaut will be your personal guide to Jules Undersea Lodge in Key Largo, Florida. You'll dive into inner space for a one or two night stay* at the Lodge living in underwater luxury with air conditioning, hot showers, a stocked galley, and unlimited diving. You and your guest will earn Aquanaut certificates!

Once on the lagoon floor, you, your guest and Carpenter will share a gourmet meal prepared by the Jules' Lodge's mer-chef. The astro/aqua-naut will also provide a tour of the habitat where he once spoke directly to the Space Shuttle in only the second sea to space comm session in history.

No prior diving experience necessary! While certified divers will definitely benefit from this package, if you have never gone scuba diving, a 4-hour instruction course is included.

Carpenter piloted the second U.S. orbital flight, Mercury 7, on May 24, 1962. In 1965, he participated in the Navy's Man-in the-Sea Project as an Aquanaut in the SEALAB II.

* Scott Carpenter will join the winning bidder on their initial dive but will not stay the night. Number of nights is subject to the comfort of the winner but can not exceed two nights. Winning bidder and his/her guest need to be in reasonably good health in order to qualify for the dive.

This auction does not include transportation to or from Key Largo, Florida. Diving dates are subject to Scott Carpenter's availability. ASF reserves the right to disqualify the high bidder, to reject the high bid, and to accept a bid from a lower bidder, for any reason within their discretion, which shall be exercised in good faith. The winning bidder of this event will be required to submit proof of identity and may be subject to a background check.
