March 16, 2026 will mark the centennial date of Robert Goddard's epic experimental liquid-fuelled rocket flight launched from his aunt's cabbage patch just outside Auburn, Massachusetts.

Will anybody be producing a cachet for Goddard's flight anniversary?

Will the USPS issue a special cancellation for Auburn Massachusetts on 16th March 2026?

The USPS publishes online a Postal Bulletin every two weeks; it includes new stamp issues and FDC information; rates; and pictorial cancels offered by a Post Office. Nothing yet as of today on a Goddard anniversary cancel; I would guess in March they would announce something, then a collector would have 30 days from the date to submit covers for a postmark cancellation.

That is very useful information to know, both specifically and more widely generically, thank you.

I will be in Auburn that day. Does anyone have any covers for it?

They are trying but with less two weeks to go they will not have any ready.

We had 100 covers made up at the last second and they were cancelled on the 16th in Auburn.

Multiple stamps were used. Apollo 11, USA Army 250th and US Flag forever stamps. 35 even had the Goddard stamp on them.

Thank to Ken Havekotte of Space Coast Cover Service for doing a great job at the last very second to help.

If interested, let me know. We will be selling them at the March 22nd Centennial event at the Hanover Theater in Worcester, Massachusetts.

My cover arrived in the post this afternoon. Thank you to Bryan (and Ken) for organising this excellent commemorative cover.
