Some colorized Apollo lunar EVA photos can be found in this flickr album.

These are really nice. The one in the second from last row, Dave Scott and the rover by Hadley Rille with the Apennines in the background (EVA 3), has always been one of my favorites from that mission.

The cover of the Apogee Books Mission Reports for the Surveyor Program also has a very well done colorized image of an astronaut standing by Surveyor III.

The photos are very well done. But I see a small omission: the leg stripe is not colorized on the EVA suit of Dave Scott driving the LRV.

(update: that may be a strap and not a stripe, hard to tell)

Very cool - I was always disappointed that some of the lunar photography was in black & white (like the colors of the moon, anyway).

The gold helmet visor is stunning in these photos.

A colorized version of Pete Conrad standing beside the Surveyor 3 spacecraft can be seen here on Facebook.

The CDR sticker on Scott's Hasselblad camera should be orange, like this.

Neat idea. But, there’s something striking me as not quite right about the visors. The Flickr versions seem like a (digital) sepia wash has been applied, giving the reflections a general monochrome appearance. Contrast that look with the true color film photos - most notably the Buzz Aldrin visor shot - where variations in subtle colors can be seen on objects in the reflection, and Neil’s white spacesuit, and the black sky appear white and black, respectively.

As I searched Google for examples of the visor shot, there was a lot of variation in the white balance, and that affects the look of the reflections, but all of them seem to show more of the true colors of the reflected objects than a simple sepia tone would reveal.
