Aerial 4x5 negatives taken from Titusville, Florida Harbor shortly before the Apollo 11 launch. Shows crowds of people and cars in great detail. The photographer is unfortunately unknown. Master scans of original negatives performed at 160Mp, for Flickr reduced to 40Mp. Commented by AS_501 on the NASA Spaceflight forum: Judging by the shadows cast by the trees and various structures, I'm guessing shortly before launch (9:32am DST). Also note that people seem to have moved to the best positions to watch the launch, ie they don't wander for hours before launch.Example of negative after scan: 05 cropped to landscape: 09 Enjoy! |

Film is great. The vantage points and resolution here really convey the environment and excitement. Great find and thanks for sharing. With the enlarged version I could do a “Where’s Waldo?”on my favorite childhood car and spot at least five VW buses on the two peninsulas. Our ‘64 bug was fine but always wished my father had gone for the 23-window bus. |

Wow! Comparing these aerial photographs taken in 1969 to today's Google Maps of the same area is amazing. |

Great photos. Any rough guesses on the altitude that these photos were taken...roughly 500-1000 ft?Also, airspace would have been closed around the launch site, correct? How close are we to that Saturn V airspace boundary line in this plane? Thanks again for posting photos. Awesome. |
