I picked up a signed copy of this astronaut book I didn't know existed (and don't see on the cS list) this weekend at a local store in Huntsville, Harrison Brothers. They had at least one more signed copy and might be able to arrange more.

Wow, I had no idea he wrote a book and published it on his own. I was lucky enough to meet BG Stewart when I was going through adult Space Camp with Hoot Gibson and Bob Springer. Three astronauts, ALL named Robert in the same spot; I thought that was an amazing moment.

I didn't have much time to talk with him but as an Army veteran myself, I was happy to meet the first Army astronaut.

I'd love to read this book.

I just called and ordered the signed book from Harrison Bros for 24.95 (paperback) plus shipping. She said he just brought in more books yesterday.

She asked how I heard about it calling from Texas, as someone from New Jersey called yesterday about it. I told her about collectSPACE and the posting and that she may start getting more calls for orders.

I worked in the same office as Gen. Stewart at Air Force Space Command HQ in the mid-90s and am anxious to read his story.

Thanks for posting about this book (ordered Friday; you don't need to just ask for Cheryl, I was helped by a very pleasant clerk). No hardcovers left, but at least several more softcovers remain.

I just ordered one over the phone and they told me right before that via email that there was only one left, so it seems I got the last one.

Ordered mine at 10:00 AM CDT today via phone call, after Cheryl had checked that there were enough copies left at that time (she had email request last night).

Cheryl stated they have been in contact with Gen. Stewart and he is in contact with the publisher. Even before she confirmed that I had a copy, she assured me that more copies will be on the way.

She appreciates the response from all of the collectSPACE followers. Use their contact phone number or email, they will get in contact with you and let know book copies status.

That's good to know.

I'm so glad this vendor was made public to us, as I wouldn't have paid the amount for the first listing of the book. Around 20-ish not counting postage (they charge that to you later from the actual USPS postage, she said) was well worth it to me.

That he signed them was a huge bonus, but mostly I just want to read it. Like I wrote earlier, I got to meet the man for a few moments, and I dearly wish I could have caught him alone in the Davidson Center to talk to him about his Army (Hooah!) take on being an astronaut, as I didn't know until that day that he was a docent there from time to time.

I know SpaceFest is just around the corner. But the organizers should get in touch with Gen Stewart and see if has heard about it and cares to attend. I'll bet he's got a lot of good stories and could sell a lot of books.
