After reading "Falling to Earth" last year and having that book leave it's mark on me as only a few other books have through my life, I couldn't wait for the opportunity to read "The Light of Earth". I began reading this book with some sort of emotional need to be met in some way... it was something I had not felt before starting a book. As I made my way through the first nine chapters, I was enjoying the read, it was interesting to hear Al's opinions and thoughts on other Apollo astronauts, but through these chapters I felt that the book was not meeting the emotional expectations I had for it yet. As I sat down a few nights ago, I started reading Chapter 10 and within a couple of paragraphs, the book started to provide me with the feeling I was desiring from it. The final few chapters through to the full poem at the end, which was beautifully chosen and placed at the perfect spot of the book, gave me everything I was hoping for, from Al Worden in this book.

Francis did a wonderful job bringing this book together for all of us to enjoy. It has the range in it to provide and meet a variety of expectations that people will have as they start to read it.

Here's what I shared as a review on Amazon...
Even though I only met Al Worden once, I could hear him read this book to me. It is the perfect follow-up to his previous book with Francis French, Falling To Earth. He offers a look into the life of one of the 24 who ventured to the moon, gives a very honest assessment of his fellow Apollo astronauts, and even offers advice to those who want to become astronauts. Many thanks to Francis for seeing this final book to completion. You should be very proud!

And what I didn't share... I have never been known to be a speed reader. I typically read more when camping in the summer than I do the rest of the year. I picked up this book Saturday morning and finished it the next night. My wife was amazed! This book, which I believe to be a gift from Al and Francis to all of Al's current and future fans, truly is a MUST READ.

Thank you so very much for these kind words, Scott - I am very glad to hear it was a book you couldn't put down! I know it would mean a great deal to Al too that the book resonated so much with you.

I would like to add my voice to the chorus of approval for this wonderful book. I don't have anything very original to add: as with most other readers, I felt it was like a last chance to listen to Al Worden delivering a talk, or just having a chat with us. Thank you for that, Francis!
