SpaceX Public Mission Patches: A Collector's Guide: Volume 1.0 - First Launch to Manned Flight by Matthew Chiarello
This guidebook is the first authoritative resource for collectors of the commemorative mission patches made available to the public by SpaceX.

The softcover book features over 100 color pages with high-resolution images of every mission patch from the first flight of Falcon 1 to the manned mission of Crew Dragon Demo-2. Each patch is pictured along with essential data about the corresponding mission, including the launch site, payload, and other interesting facts.

This unofficial handbook also includes a checklist and visual index to help SpaceX fans build and track their patch collection.

  • Paperback: 104 pages
  • Self-published (January 9, 2021)
  • ISBN-13: 979-8592895357

Does anyone have an opinion about this mission patch reference book? The photos I've seen are not enough to inform a purchase decision.

It's a reference style book with high resolution enough pictures to see the original SpaceX patches and read some mission specific information. Each patch has its own page and there is a visual index at the end.

If you're offline you can use it to determine a patch attribute, or you can do an online search for the information. I'm happy I bought one, but it's not a daily reader.

For some the noblest reason to buy it may be to support the patch ecosystem, it's significant that books like this exist.

I agree that the patch community needs to be supported and reference books are needed. It is faster, depending on the book, to thumb through pages than search online, not to mention that I spend my professional life on a computer - holding a book is a welcome change.
