Does anyone know where I can find an audio clip of Ed White saying "This is the saddest moment of my life" on his spacewalk? Why: I'm currently finishing a song about Ed White's spacewalk, and I'm using audio clips* from the mission. I found one clip that contains "saddest moment" at archive.org, but the quality of that particular utterance is really not great and it's proving almost impossible to EQ it enough that it sounds decent. So I'm already aware of that one, and am looking for an alternative if possible. *Yes, I have already contacted Bert Ulrich at NASA, and am also contacting all the entities whose voices will be used to get their permissions. Robert has already been a big help to me on this project - thanks again, Robert. |

Did you check the To The Moon LP collection by Time-Life? I believe someone has digitized the original vinyl record set. A link to it was posted somewhere on this cS forum way in the past. |

Thanks, gentlemen. I cross-posted a version of this query in the Facebook group Space Hipsters, and someone mentioned this as well. Unfortunately the Gemini 4 spacewalk is given fairly brief treatment in the Time-Life recording, and the "saddest moment" reference is not included. (Not even close, actually — they didn't even include the "Gemini 4, get back in!" exchange.)But thank you for the suggestion. |

Sorry that did not pan out.I distinctly remember hearing this phrase, and it was not during the flight. I wish I could remember when/where. Other possibilities are: (1) Episode 2 of Discovery's excellent series When We Left Earth; 2) Episode 2 of the 1985 PBS series Spaceflight, narrated by Martin Sheen and (3) NASA's film, The Four Days of Gemini 4. | |
