This book is about the cosmos as a thousand-year-old dream, a guiding star and a test.

Why do people want to go into space and what questions are they looking for? How are they selected for to be cosmonauts and how are they prepared for the flight? What does the says "healthy as a cosmonaut" mean? Do cosmonauts feel afraid? What do the cosmonauts do on board and in outer space? What are they returning? What is the cosmos capable of teaching and how can this knowledge be used on Earth? Finally, what is the essence of the cosmonaut profession?
