I would like to know everyone's favourite photographs, they can be from the early space program or more recent ones. There can also be from any space agency. I thought it would be nice to discover some of these incredible photographs. One of my favourite ones has to be this one: |

That Gemini 7/6 images has always been my favorite as well. It is a graphic image of our ability to turn a set-back into a bold step forward. |

My "top ten" would be: - Earthrise taken at the moon by Apollo 8 astronaut Bill Anders
- Buzz Aldrin full frontal photo on the moon's surface
- Ed White EVA taken by Jim McDivitt
- STS-1 launch
- Bruce McCandless MMU EVA on STS-41B
- Color photo panorama of Mars surface returned by Viking, showing lander.
- Volcano plumes on Io taken by Voyager
- First photo of surface of another planet (Venus) sent back by Venera 9
- Photo of Halley's Comet taken by ESA Giotto probe
- "Hubble Deep Field" photo taken of 100+ galaxies by HST
I realize there may be various images for each, so forgive me if I don't upload the particular photo — you may know which one. |

Agree entirely with the list of ten top photos, to which I would add the following: - John Glenn being inserted into Friendship 7
- Tom Stafford's "Angry Alligator" on Gemini 9A
- Dave Scott's "Fallen Astronauts" photo
- Discovery's STS-114 pitch maneuver at ISS

All good choices mentioned above. Here are a few others that spring to mind... - Dick Gordon riding like a cowboy astride the docked Agena during GT-11.
- A launch picture taken during Apollo 11 that shows the American flag in the foreground with the Saturn V in the background accelerating though the sound barrier so you see the shock waves.
- The Eagle ascent stage returning to dock with Columbia with the Earth in the background.
- An Apollo 14 panorama looking at LM Antares with the sun just peaking over the 11 o'clock "shoulder" of Antares.
- An Apollo 16 image, AS16-113-18289HR, of the CSM taken from a distance, showing both the CSM above the Moon's surface with a relatively small Earth in the background, giving some idea of the true scale of the endeavor of Apollo going to the Moon.
- The shot of the Skylab space station taken by the departing Skylab 4 crew, that is "The" commonly shown picture of the Skylab space station.
- The picture of Dale Gardner EVAing in an MMU with a "Stinger" attempting to capture a satellite on STS-51A.

I agree with all the suggestions above. I would include the picture of the Apollo 9 LM "Spider" in earth orbit and the picture of Neil Armstrong in the LM after his moon walk. The expression on his face is priceless: a combination of joy and relief.

The image taken of Apollo 13's service module following its jettison into space, and showing the damage from the explosion is very poignant. |
