Having read "After Apollo" not too long ago I was wondering if anyone knew of any good books that dealt with the politics and policy of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs? The kind of Presidential/Congressional level stuff.

Thanks. I should have thought to look up the author's other works.

Another relevant book is "Spaceflight and the Myth of Presidential Leadership" by Roger Launius and Howard McCurdy.

Of the books I've read I'd definitely suggest "The Heavens and the Earth: A Political History of the Space Age" by Walter A. McDougall and perhaps also "The Man Who Ran the Moon: James E. Webb, NASA, and the Secret History of Project Apollo" by Piers Bizony.

I suggest "The Race" by James Schefter.
