The KickStarter just passed the 400% funded mark! Thanks again to all of you who pledged.

I am still getting emails from people who think it is too late to pledge for a book. This is not the case, the campaign runs until October 9th.

Apollo panoramas: Moon landings go wide in crowdfunded photo book

A new photo book about the Apollo moon landings provides a "wide look" at the lunar surface vistas that astronauts saw and captured on film more than 40 years ago.

"Apollo: The Panoramas," now being crowdfunded through Kickstarter, binds together more than 50 sprawling scenes digitally assembled from the thousands of photos taken by the moonwalkers between July 1969 and December 1972.

"'Apollo: The Panoramas,' as the title implies, is dedicated to high resolution assembly of the panoramic sequences that the astronauts captured on the lunar surface," Mike Constantine, the book's author, told collectSPACE. "Other books have included a small number of the panoramas as part of a collection of general Apollo images, but this book features over fifty seamless panoramas, each one over a full width, double page spread."

OMG (as the kids apparently say)!! I have just used the 360 'drag around' panorama tool on Mike's site. It is the closest thing we'll ever get to being there!

Very, very impressive, Mike! Thanks a lot!

Thanks Buel, will hopefully add some more 360 degree pans soon.

Meanwhile, over the weekend the Kickstarter passed the 500% closely followed by the 600% funded marks! A really amazing response, I never imagined it would go this far!

There are now only 4 days remaining on the Kickstarter, so if you still want to get the book via the campaign and other goodies there is not much time left.

Can't believe this, the Kickstarter has now passed 700% funded! Thank you to everyone on here who pledged.

There are now less than two days to run on the Kickstarter!

The Kickstarter is now over!

A big thanks once again to everybody who pledged.

If you missed out on the Kickstarter but still want a book, then don't worry, we will be listing Apollo: The Panoramas on the Moonpans website and also on Amazon soon after the Kickstarter books have been shipped out.

I have received several emails purporting to come from Kickstarter asking me for information in return for a "reward." There is an implication that if I don't provide the information, I won't receive the book that I pledged money for. Is this genuine? Has anyone else who made a pledge in support of the book received this email? Can I be sure it's not a scam?

The emails from Kickstarter are genuine. They are known as backer surveys and they are how the backer's name and shipping address get sent to the Kickstarter creator in order to receive their reward, i.e. the book.

For backers who ordered a signed and personalised book, the survey also asks for their requested personalisation details.

My copy arrived in perfect shape today (thanks for the careful packaging), and this is better than Xmas! This is a great book, and as stated in the previous post it is like being on the moon myself.

Thanks to moonpans for a great product, I am a very happy customer!

My copy has arrived. To be honest I wasn't blown away. Many of the pages were lightly creased. Also, whilst my own large size Moonpans panoramas are spectacular, when reduced to book size they lack the wow factor for me.

Sorry to hear your book arrived with slight damage, contact me off-forum and I can sort out a replacement for you.

The size of the book was advertised on Kickstarter as 14x10.25 inches (which therefore opens up to 28x10.25 inches). It would have been impractical to make it any larger, being both very expensive to produce and very expensive to ship.

Yes the panoramic prints are spectacular, but for the same price as one print, you get over 50 panoramas in the book, with descriptions and moonwalker recollections. So they are two quite different products.

My copy arrived yesterday in perfect condition. Absolutely blown away with it. The wonder and splendour of each vista is perfectly captured in these expertly put together panoramas. The narrative, traverse map and astronauts comments just add to what was already an outstanding book.

Great job Mike!!

Yep I knew the size. I suppose another way of putting it is for those who don't own any of the large pans, the book is no substitute, they need to get prints as well.

I'll be in touch when I get home, thanks.

Apollo: The Panoramas is now available to purchase direct from the Moonpans website

I would like to thank once again all of the Kickstarter backers, many of whom have been getting in touch to say how much they liked the book. All of the comments really mean a lot!

Apollo: The Panoramas book along with the Apollo 12 lucite has arrived today.

I have done a lot of Kickstarter campaigns and this project has had the best results. The book is beautiful. The narrations are great. It just adds to the collective knowledge of Apollo.

Thanks Mike.

Just wondering how close in color these panoramas are to the Chinese ones just released about the surface of the moon?

My book arrived today. A good friend of mine recently quoted 'The kidz of today' when he emailed me saying 'OMG'. Well I'm not kid and am certainly not 'down with it' but I will also say OMG!!

This book has it all. I think the best thing I can say about it is studying the panoramas honestly takes me just a little bit closer to the lunar surface. That is worth the cost alone!!

Book arrived yesterday and it's fantastic. As others here have said, it's amazing to look at the photos and discover details that are missed in smaller pictures. Incredibly well done book that will be sure to please anyone interested in the Apollo landings!

Nice book with contributions of four Apollo moonwalkers, among which the late Edgar Mitchell... But at size 25 by 35 cm a missed chance to get a really large book.
