I'm looking to get one or two Apollo sets made by Spacecraft Films. Which are considered as the best?

I personally like the Apollo 8 and 11 sets.

The best? All of them!

So it depends very much on the missions you are interested in.

When I got my Apollo 15 set it was fantastic to watch an entire EVA, instead of just the 5 minute 'greatest hits' YouTube versions.

So I would look for one of the later missions that had lots of TV.

I agree with Ed, I wouldn't want to miss any one of them.

I started out, years ago, with just Apollo 17, figuring that was the longest stay time and therefore the best.

Then, naturally I wanted to add Apollo 11, as the most historic. Then I found out that only on Apollo 15 was there TV imagery of the unfolding of the rover so I just had to get that one.

But Apollo 16 has the Grand Prix and DAC footage of some of the lunar drives. And Apollo 8, well that's pretty historic too. To make a long story short, I ended up buying all of them.

And they all have their special moments. Apollo 12 for instance has the best, in my opinion, footage of the LM slowly disappearing into the distance after separation from the CSM. And on Apollo 10 there are quite a few TV transmissions during translunar and trans-Earth coast giving you a sense of the trip as far as time and distance is concerned.

So, did this help any in making up your mind?

I got them all as well, in almost the same order as BA! But the last three missions are the ones I watch the most.

There is something about seeing the astronauts really working and doing real science on the moon that is really awesome! There is so much surface video and in such great clarity, I feel like I am watching a current mission, or as close to it as we are likely to get anytime soon.

All times are CT (US)
