I recently launched the second novella in my "Altered Space" series. "Public Loneliness" imagines a Soviet circumlunar flight in October, 1967 — something they might well have tried, especially if they hadn't launched and lost Komarov. I'm pretty excited about it; I've had some good advance feedback, and I'd love to hear thoughts from the people on the board. You can buy it on Amazon. Publ ic Loneliness: Yuri Gagarin's Circumlunar Flight by Gerald Brennan October, 1967. Yuri Gagarin sits atop a Proton rocket, ready to launch. After several turbulent years in the public eye, he's been chosen in secrecy to captain the Soviet Union's latest space spectacular: the first manned flight around the moon. The second story in the "Altered Space" series, Public Loneliness is a detailed and imaginative look at a country and a space program with a curious schizophrenia regarding publicity and secrecy. Based on extensive research, it's also a lively and literary story that dares to look beyond the posters at the man who led the human race into space. - Print Length: 128 pages

I enjoyed this book - it read like Gagarin could have written it himself. I thought it captured the spirit of the first spacefarer well, in the middle of a gripping story that had me wondering until the very last page. | |
