Paul Calle is a noted space artist and stamp designer who has chronicled the space program since Project Mercury. Now 82, Paul was the only "civilian" present on July 16, 1969 as the Apollo 11 crew had breakfast and suited up to go to the Moon. His sketches and paintings have become iconic. I have had the pleasure to meet him at both SpaceFests, where he captivated visitors with his great art and funny stories. The Stamford Advocate on June 1 published an article about clinical trials in medical research. The article revealed that Paul has had melanoma for the past 5 years; he has (thankfully) responded to an experimental medication in such a clinical trial. Now Chris Calle, Paul's son and an accomplished space artist himself, plans to run in the Relay for Life to raise funds for the American Cancer Society in honor of his father. Chris' wife Jackie will also be running in the Relay, to be held June 11-12 at Ridgefield High School in Connecticut. Admirers of Paul and Chris can make a donation to the American Cancer Society in support of Chris' and Jackie's participation in the Relay for Life by visiting this web page. |

Chris and Jackie Calle have surpassed their $800 fundraising goal for the American Cancer Society in honor of their father Paul Calle, but it is not too late to donate-- the Relay for Life in which they will participate is this coming weekend. Paul's melanoma has been kept in check by a new Bristol drug which is the product of medical research and clinical trials. |

Just picked up a one of the Apollo era BW prints.I just gotta say that this is absolutely one of my favorite books. Every time I look through it I'm taken back on a journey to the 60's, when we actually explored space. Thanks Paul for sharing the art with us. |

I bought this book earlier this week from Chris and must say it is fantastic. The Apollo suit up drawings are very special. If you don't have a copy get one.I bought mine directly from Chris and I highly recommend it. E-mail him to see if he has more available. |

Can I second the recommendation for getting this book. Chris suggested purchasing it when I bought a FDC from him. I am so glad I did, the book is just brilliant. The quality of the images is great and the story of Paul's artwork is fascinating. One definitely to have on your bookshelf. |
