I'm interested in finding out more about Alan Shepard secretarial signatures as I've not seen much on this in regard to other astronauts.

Is this something that is unique to Shepard, or did other astronauts have materials signed on their behalf by others? Where do such secretarials 'sit' in regard to value? Do they have any value in and of themselves or should they be regarded as little more than forgeries?

I've looked at the autopen guides, but are there any articles that people can reference that discuss this more?

Check out Chris Spain's excellent site. Along with known autopen patterns, you will find examples of known secretarials.
