As a long tme collector I have been collecting through the mail autographs since 1984. I live in The Netherlands, so there is not much else I can do than collect through the mail. I have learned and I know there are quite a number of difficult autographs to get, because the facts that the non-active astronauts might change their signing habits after they have left NASA for the commercial Business. I do need a number of the (very) difficult ones. So I would like to ask you for your knowledge of those as we speak (I know that might change also). Any help is appreciated. Is it worth a try to write a letter with SASE to: - Williams, Jeffrey N.
- Creamer, Timothy J.
- Oefelein, William A.
- Patrick, Nicholas J.M.
- Swanson, Steven R.
- Wheelock, Douglas H.
- Woodward, Neil W. II
- Antonelli, Dominic A.
- Kulin, Robb
- Bursch, Daniel W.
- Curbeam, Robert L. Jr
- Frick, Stephen N.
- Melvin, Leland D.
- Chamitoff, Gregory E.
- Guidoni, Umberto
- Bowersox Kenneth D.
I know, a number of these might not respond at all for quite some years. But I love to learn your experience. Much appreciated! |

At the Columbia+10 event (2013), Bowersox said he does not sign through the mail. |

From your list, most of the names do not reply through the mail: - Williams, Jeffrey N.
- Creamer, Timothy J.
- Oefelein, William A.
- Patrick, Nicholas J.M.
- Wheelock, Douglas H.
- Woodward, Neil W. II
- Antonelli, Dominic A.
- Kulin, Robb
- Bursch, Daniel W.
- Curbeam, Robert L. Jr
- Chamitoff, Gregory E.
- Guidoni, Umberto
- Bowersox Kenneth D.
In those cases, you will have to find a public appearance to attend. Usually, these astronauts are more open during in-person encounters. It will involve travelling from your side, though. Bowersox was in the Netherlands 25 years ago. Antonelli attended the ASE Congress at Stockholm. Creamer was "NASA ambassador" to Germany for many years and visiting frequently at that time. Guidoni was a ready signer ttm while he was a member of the European Parliament. He still does many public appearances in Italy. For us Europeans, it is definitely more difficult, but not impossible.Others, however, do still reply through the mail, but from their current business addresses. - Swanson, Steven R.
- Frick, Stephen N.
- Melvin, Leland D.
Hope this helps. | |
