According to a report from GTRK TV in Russia, the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics in Moscow will deliver 18 Vladimir Komarov autographed postcards to their recipients in Ufa, Russia, 53 years after they were signed. ...in 1964, the legendary Soviet cosmonaut signed 18 cards for the residents of Ufa, but they were never sent. Now, 53 years later, they will be awarded to the recipients."They were so happy when we spoke about the postcards. Of course, this is a big and bright event. And we want to hold at the proper level. Perhaps we ourselves will visit each of the cities where they live today. Or invite them here to Moscow," said Olga Nizovtseva, press officer for the space museum. The postcards were apparently presented to the museum by Komarov's daughter, Irina. The plan is to deliver them to their recipients (or descendants) on April 12, Cosmonautics Day.Vladimir Komarov was the first cosmonaut to fly into space twice, on Voskhod 1 in 1964 and Soyuz 1 in 1967. He tragically died at the end of his second mission as a result of his spacecraft's parachute failing to deploy.
