I'm having a little difficulty charging the smartphone I use to photograph my signed books, so I probably won't get that picture up anytime soon, unfortunately. At my request, he inscribed it "The Envy of All Dads" in reference to the episode of ABC's Modern Family entitled "The Last Walt," specifically Phil's line: "That's why dads everywhere hate Eugene Cernan." I thought it would be a fun way to combine a pop culture favorite with a historical autograph and create a rare, special item at the same time. I'm beyond thrilled that he indulged. However, I will share that I was just looking back over it and I realized that Captain Cernan made a mistake in his inscription. Below his signature, he wrote "Apollo XVI", which I missed on first glance. |

I've had inscriptions from a few astronauts with errors (including Gene). Doesn't bother me at all and to me they seem more original and "authentic". Of course others see it differently, and I suppose a mis-spelling is different to a mission that he didn't fly, but hey, it's yours. |

Hey, I'm not complaining. To quote one of my friends on this matter, "it gives it character."Anyone who looks at it would know what he meant and would see it's an honest mistake, so, if anything, it makes it even cooler, since it's truly a one-of-a-kind now. That he indulged my request for the mission at all is something worthy of great gratitude, since that's not something he includes in his standard book signings. All in all, I'm beyond thrilled with it, and I'm extremely happy that he indulged my requests. I likely won't ever get the chance to meet him, so if any of you run into him, please extend my sincerest thanks. |

This seems like a helpful and knowledgeable community and I apologize for bringing up an old topic but has anyone sent a book to Gene recently? I am new to this whole astronaut autographing business as ones that I obtained were through eBay (Alan Bean print) and one by accident. He is definitely one of my favorite astronauts so I think it would be really cool to have him sign my copy of his book, but I don't want to send it in only to find out that he no longer does so. If so, is the address that is here still correct? |

I sent a book to Gene about 3 months ago for a friend in South Africa and have not yet received it. I assume that Gene is very busy with his new "Man on the Moon" odyssey. |

I recently got my book back from Captain Cernan. It was about two weeks total (mid-March to end of March), which is amazing, considering that he's been doing all the stuff with "The Last Man on the Moon" documentary. It was so kind of him to take the time to sign and personalize his book for me and it is definitely one of my most prized possessions! (Also a shoutout to RichieB16 and Hart Sastrowardoyo for their helpful input in this thread.) |

For clarification, currently does Mr Cernan still sign his book through the mail? is there a fee? |

I'm happy to say that he does still sign the book, and there is no fee. I got a copy nicely inscribed to my daughter just one week after I mailed it. |

Yesterday, I received my copy of "The Last Man On The Moon" personalized and signed by Gene Cernan. I've had the book on my desk for a couple of years with the intention of sending it to Mr. Cernan to be signed. So, I was glad to see he was still willing to do so. Turn around time was about two weeks. I'd kept the dust cover and only sent the book which I'd packaged in a gallon zip lock bag and between two pieces of cardboard. The book returned as I'd packaged it and I was thankful to see that the post office hadn't beaten it up. I'm very grateful to the last man who stood on the moon to provide me with this keepsake. It will be kept in a place of honor. |

I have just been informed that Gene Cernan has raised his signing fee to $500. This is getting crazy! |

Please see the discussion under the Spacefest VII topic (see page 4).As noted, he raised his fee "because his health precludes him from a lot of actual signing so he feels it discourages long lines." |

I sent a book to Gene well over a year ago for a friend who lives in Africa and never got it back. Not sure if Gene lost it or if it was lost in the mail. |

I sent a book to him in mid July and am still hopeful if will be signed and returned to my grand daughter as a surprise for her. She loves the moon and I figure this will be a very special book to her as she matures. |

I was recently in touch with his office. At present, Cernan is unavailable for personal reasons. I would suggest patience. On edit: Gene Cernan died on Jan. 16, 2017 after falling ill for several months. |

Just received my "The Last Man On The Moon" book I sent out several months before Gene's passing. I received it back today from Cernan Corp. unsigned with a letter that states: Thank you for your request for Captain Gene Cernan to sign your copy of "The Last Man on the Moon." As you probably know, Captain Cernan was seriously ill in 2016, and passed away in January of this year. Although he had many requests to sign books, he was unable to do so because of his ill health. We are returning your book unsigned, and sincerely appreciate your understanding of the circumstances. Thank you again for your interest in Captain Gene Cernan. |
