Hello Everyone,

What has a better value a sign autograph with just the signature or to someone with the signature?

Thanks

If you have two autographs of the same person and in the same condition, with one personalized and the other not, the one that is not personalized genreally is more desirable to the collector; especially those collecting as an investment.

However, if all things are not equal, then there are many factors to consider.

Just my two cents.

It's truly a matter of preference. . .

I enjoy having lithos personalized to me. . . it shows the sincerity of obtaining the autograph (and not just something to put on ebay in minutes), and I'll be able to tell stories to the kids and grandkids.

I also enjoy autographs personalized to others that I have obtained. . . may have been obtained originally during a conversation with the astronaut.

As far as non-inscribed lithos, some collectors prefer them. I think you might get stung with an occasional forgery with non-inscribed items.

It's truly a matter of preference. . .

Personally, I prefer the ones inscribed to me. They have more sentimental value.

Agreed. Somewhere around here I have a late-1980s glossy, poorly-reproduced publicity portrait of Walter Cronkite, but it means the world to me because it was personalized to me and Uncle Walter included a very nice good-luck message on it.

There's usually a preference towards unpersonalized signatures in the collecting world, but I don't mind personalized ones in my own collection, even if they're to other folks. Partly it's because the personalized ones are a little more within my reach. And part of it is -- and maybe it's just me -- even a small personalization makes the person who signed seem a little more like a human being.

I think the short answer, in this field of autographs, higher current market values lean towards autographed items which are uninscribed.

It depends on the astronaut to a large degree too. But I think high level an authentic uninscribed Neil Armstrong WSS Litho is easily worth triple in cash, moola, dollars, of an authentic inscribed version of said piece.

That triple figure does not hold true across the board. It is just a seat of the pants guess on this single person's signature. This value is driven by the current market, or in other words the pleasure of the collecting community on average nowadays.
