I've just put online an Astronaut Autopen Guide for the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronauts. This is not intended to compete with any of the existing guides and is not supposed to be definitive in any way. It's just a guide that I started compiling for my own reference a long time ago and which I have been slowly adding to over the last year or so.

My feeling for this kind of resource is that it's better for the collecting community to have too much information than too little. If the different resources overlap that gives people a chance to cross-reference things, and if they complement each other that's even better.

Since I know the guide is neither perfect nor complete I'd welcome any constructive criticism and in particular any examples of autopen patterns missing from my lists.

Very well-done and impressive! Obviously a lot of time and care went into its creation. Your online autopen guide will be something of great use and interest to us collectors. Thanks.

Very nice... it's great to have a couple of examples to compare for each pattern!

Just a note to say that I've finally moved my Astronaut Autopen Guide to its own dedicated web address: AstroAutopens.com.

Please remove any bookmarks you have for the old site and add the new address instead.

I've given the site a slight makeover, mainly switching to a on-white color scheme instead of on-black. Most of the content is the same.

As-ever please feel free to contact me if you think there is an Autopen pattern missing from the site of if you have a cleaner example that could be used to illustrate a pattern than I currently have shown.

I just want to give a shout out to Chris for creating and maintaining such a great autopen website! I can't count how many times I have used this website in the past 6+ years.

Thank you Chris!

I too agree. Thanks for the great site. It has saved me from buying a lot of bad autographs.

It's hard to believe it's been nearly ten years now since I launched this site. I did rework it a bit a few years back but time moves on so I've now tweaked it a little more to make it more compatible with mobile devices.

My approach is fairly crude as I'm not a web expert and everything is written direct in HTML using NotePad but basically if you view the site on a smart phone you should now see a narrow version that fits on the screen in a single column.

It's not perfect but hopefully it makes the site a little more portable. Obviously if you find any major bugs do send me a mail.

In the long run I'd like to do the same with my other sites but that will take some serious work so it's not going to happen just yet.

Thanks, Chris. I've used your great resource many times and it looks good on my iPhone (which more and more is how I find myself visiting!).

Appreciate the 'mobile-friendly' coding work along with the site itself.
