I think they did well on this auction , it may not be the best autograph but I think it is from the mid-eighties!!!!. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2194309055&category=14438 |

I saw this one when it was up and was thinking about posting and asking others what they thought. It looks good in most ways but I would not say it is a definitely authentic example. If it is not real it is a darn good forgery. I think most likely it is real. |

Hard to say whether it's real OR fake; to anyone who had considered bidding on it therefore, I'd have suggest skipping it and waiting for an unquestionable example to come along.-chet [This message has been edited by chet (edited October 06, 2003).] |

I must say I think it is very hard to find a unquestionable Armstrong autograph- most have their problems in one way or another. |

It's really not as hard as you think. Many inscribed WSS lithos appear on Ebay all the time, almost all of them unquestionably authentic. It becomes tougher with uninscribed examples, but even then there are some that clearly stand out as "certainly" real, and by that I mean an example that all experienced collectors would agree as being real. That's why I think it's just good sense to pass on the ones that ARE questionable - - as there are enough unquestionable ones from which to choose, and you usually don't have to wait very long either.Case in point: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2194624259 -chet |

BTW, here's a real nice example of an UNINSCRIBED Armstrong on Ebay, that is clearly authentic: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2956026990 -chet |

I agree with Chet & he has shown us two wonderful examples of certain authentic Armstrongs - one personalized & the other not. Genuine Armstrongs are found on eBay from time-to-time & these are great examples of that. Both should reach very healthy amounts, as you won't see solid examples like these sell for bargain amounts. Here is another unquestionably good inscribed Armstrong WSS--the reserve has been met and current bidding is at $344. A bidder may benefit from the poor scans in the ad. Check out the closeup for a decent view of the inscription and signature.Regards, Andrew Messer http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2194930730&category=14438 |

Doesn't the Armstrong signature on this cover look very close to some of the Sieger signed covers by him. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2956026990 IMHO David |

If you're refering to the Sieger stamp blocks signed by Armstrong, yes, I believe the signature on the cover is very similar to his Sieger "style".-chet |
