I read with great interest the debate started by Bob..."Most of us know that the writing on glossy photographs can be removed by using various fluids. Unwanted personalizations & smeared autographs can be easily removed. Both collectors and those who sell autographs know this." I kept waiting for someone to ask... "How do you remove unwanted autographs?".... but no one stepped forward. I guess I'm in the minority in that I don't know how to do this. I went to the recent signing in DC and was horrified when one of the astros signed a print for me, in the black part of the photo, with a black sharpie. He stopped when I gasped and changed to gold but I can plainly see where he messed up. How do I remove this? Noah |

Hi Noah,I'd start by going to or calling a photo developing supply place and telling them your problem. They'll either likely have the special solution you need, or will be able to direct you to where you can get it. -Chet |

Noah:Go to any Office Suppply store and pic up a Pentel CLIC eraser. Assuming this is a glossy photo of course (non litho). They generally work. Also, most photo supply stores have an emulsion cleaner - but it can be expensive. Cheers! Al-2 |

I worked in pre-press area of the printing industry. We used a fluid called film clean. This removes writing and unwanted marks from glossy photographs and film but definately not from lithos.I don't know if film clean is sold under this name in the States but I would certainly recommend that you approach the graphic reproduction department of your local printing company who should be able to point youin the right direction. |
