On July 14, 2019, as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, the Armstrong Air & Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio, dedicated two new statues of its namesake.

One statue displays Neil Armstrong as a young teenager holding a model airplane like the type he would have built. The other statue is of Neil Armstrong when he was piloting the Lunar Landing Research Vehicle.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Mark Armstrong, Neil's son, spoke at the dedication. The sculptor, Chas Fagan of Charlotte, North Carolina, previously created the statue of Neil Armstrong as a college student that sits outside the Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
