Part of the Monmouth Museum on the Brookdale Community College campus, Lincroft, NJ, the Becker Children's Wing has a temporary exhibit, "Ancients to Astronauts: How We Communicate." However, the wing, which is aimed at children 6 years of age and older, also has a mockup Friendship 7 capsule (1:1, or almost, considering my kid's height) and a flight control desk, all for a simulation on launching an astronaut - which didn't seem to be working when I was there.

They also had a planetarium, a mock Apollo 11 spacesuit so one can get their picture taken in it, and strangely enough, a photo of Mae Jemison, who has no connection to New Jersey.

If you're on campus, take a look. If you're bringing your kid to the WonderWing to begin with, take a look — the whole museum (including artworks) is included with admission. But otherwise it's not worth making a special trip for this.

All times are CT (US)
