There is a Lunar Module training article on display at the Mississippi Welcome Center near Stennis Space Center and Infinity Science Center. I've asked folks at Infinity and Stennis what sort of training this article was used for, but nobody knows. Can somebody enlighten me on what type of training this module was used for? Thanks!

This LM mockup is the same one that spent years at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Center.

Apollo moon lander mockup touches down at Infinity Science Center

An Apollo lunar module has taken a small step towards a giant display in Mississippi.

The Infinity Science Center on Tuesday (Feb. 26) served as the landing site for the 50-year-old moon lander mockup, which was lowered and positioned by crane onto a cement apron outside of the Pearlington non-profit educational attraction.

Was this LM built by Grumman?

The available information about this particular mockup is limited. The various plaques that accompanied its displays at Kennedy Space Center and at the Mississippi Welcome Center were focused more on the vehicle it represented, rather than its specific history.

At Kennedy, more than one version of the plaque identified the prime contractor as Grumman Aerospace, but that seems to have been in description of the LM in general.

All times are CT (US)
