A friend of mine is convinced he once read of a company which does fixed-wing airplane flights over KSC, but can't find their site now that we're going in a group down there this Fall.I searched Google for a while and found a helicopter outfit that goes down the length of runway 33 there, but it's part of a larger tour package. Does anyone know the company he was talking about? For all I know they might not be in business anymore, but I trust that he did indeed see something on this as he recalls very specific details about what they did. Just not the name of the outfit... |

This may not be the only company that offers such a package, but Florida Biplanes & Helicopters provides just such an experience. Kennedy Space Center Tour -This tour takes you over the KSC, where you will circle the Visitor's complex and see NASA's Rocket Garden and Atlantis Shuttle display. See the space shuttle runway and Vehicle Assembly Building and Launch pads. There is also the Shuttle Landing Experience: We take you up in our Beechcraft A-23 aircraft to about 2,500' over the Kennedy Space Center, Port Canaveral, Merritt Island and the surrounding area and conclude with a flight over the Shuttle landing facility at 100'. |

Note, none of those go over the VAB, pads, or CCAFS. I have had friends buzz the SLF and they are not to go east of the centerline. I believe that aircraft cannot go east of the Kennedy parkway. So, technically you are "over the KSC" and you can "circle the Visitor's complex and see NASA's Rocket Garden and Atlantis Shuttle display." But you only can "See the space shuttle runway and Vehicle Assembly Building and Launch pads" from a distance. |
