Thanks Robert — I assume that means that the Level 9 guests then only get to see the rear of the consoles, so an additional reason to take the tram tour the following day to see the consoles front-on, from the gallery. I'd hoped we might get to wander up both sides, if not amongst the consoles themselves.

A shame, but so be it, for the long term benefit of the room...

You can walk up the steps on the right side and get up close to the INCO console.

I'll be visiting the space center in mid-September. Is the historic mission control room going to be missing all the consoles at that time? I heard the restoration won't be done until 2019.

At the time the first set of consoles were removed, it was mentioned that the next set would be transported to Kansas at the same time that the first, now restored set returned. So in theory, there should never be a time that the room would be empty.

That said, they do plan to replace the carpet and wallpaper, so there might be a time when the consoles are temporarily moved to the side or outside of the room to allow that work to occur.

Thanks Robert. I'm sure I'll still enjoy the visit there regardless of what shape mission control is in!

I did the Level 9 tour last year but was greatly disappointed not to get to see the Neutral Buoyancy Lab as it was "flooded." No kidding!

Does anyone know if it's back on the tour yet? I'm due there at the beginning of October and would rather not do a complete re-run of my previous tour, good though it was. Many thanks in advance.
