Last week's Photo of the Week was the last in this series. My photo hosting service has unexpectedly changed procedures, which makes it complicated to get the right link for the weekly photo. In addition, it is getting harder and harder to find photos that haven't been all over Facebook yet. At the end of the month it has been 20 years since I started this feature, so I have decided to stop, something I had initially wanted to do after number 1000. Consider the extra 69 photos a bonus. Thanks to Robert for hosting POTW and to 'my public' for tuning in every Saturday. |

20 years! That’s quite an accomplishment. You could probably just start over with week #1’s photo and they would be new to a lot of the newer cSers … and likely new again for us forgetful old timers. |

Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing your fantastic collection here. The POTW is one of the things that has made cS special. Saturdays will be just a little bit more drab from now on. |

As a relative newcomer, I've only seen a tad over 160 POTWs. I shall miss this feature enormously. Sad to see it go, but congratulations on persevering for more than a thousand weeks. |

I am so sad that this day has come, as many others have written, your thread is my first stop every Saturday. I know the old saying, "All Good Things...," but that does not make the end any easier.I have enjoyed your posts since I became a cSer and I thank you sincerely for the thought and effort you have put into each and every one. |

Thanks for sharing all the great photos. Saturday mornings will never be the same now. Just tossing this out there, photo of the month on the 1st of each month? Being selfish so we are not cut off cold turkey so to speak. |

Ed, you have been a true stalwart of this forum, and your participation over the years has helped make collectSPACE essential daily reading. An unbeliveable range of photos over the years, and while we will miss them, we look forward to your future (unillustrated) posts. Brilliant, my friend; you've been an inspiration to many. |

Thanks for all the comments, which are appreciated very much. One of the reasons for my decision is that I am rather busy working with authors J.L. Pickering and John Bisney on a series of photo books on the Apollo missions, to be published by Schiffer Publishing starting in October. Each mission will be covered in a separate book of around 300 pages and each book will contain dozens of photos that have never been published before. So for those who will miss the Photo of the Week feature, the books will certainly be a sort of compensation.Below are two examples of photos that didn’t get selected for the books.

Just loved seeing all those images from your collection that we would otherwise never have known about. But great to see you collaborating with J.L. Pickering and John Bisney on the new project that will also bring to light more unseen images. Any chance of those that don't make the books being in Series II of "Photo of the Week"? |
