Marilyn Lovell watches from a nearby boat as the NASA Motor Vessel Retriever gets ready to drop a mockup of the command module into the water of the Gulf of Mexico during egress training of the Apollo 8 crew on October 25, 1968. Mrs. Lovell died August 27.

She had a mountain on the moon named for her in just a few months after this photo! Pretty damn cool.
