The Apollo 10 crewmembers pose at Launch Pad 39B with their Saturn 5 in the background, during a walkthrough of emergency escape procedures on March 27, 1969. Left to right: CDR Tom Stafford, LMP Gene Cernan and CMP John Young. |

This is an amazing photo which I don't believe I have ever seen before, thanks Ed. |

Thanks Ed. Stafford and Cernan look great but that's a poor photo of Young. Very impressive mission that led to Geno and John getting their own commands. |

At least the thumb on his left hand is facing backwards, as "charm school" dictates. |

A great shot of the crew pre-launch at 39B that I have seen before, but can anyone make out the type of badge Young is wearing? |

Same type the others are wearing. Cernan's badge on the right. |

If I remember correctly, the “Charm School” was an Air Force effort to get more Air Force candidates selected as NASA astronauts. Perhaps Stafford passed on the secret “Thumbs forward ladies, thumbs to the rear gentlemen!” rule. |
