The Apollo era Astrovan, a converted Clark Cortez motorhome, made its debut on August 14, 1968, when it ferried the suited Apollo 7 crew a short distance from the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building to the Flight Crew Training Building at KSC. It was driven by Steve Tatham of KSC Security. This particular van was last used for STS-6 in 1983.

That's a great photo. I love this type of subject. I haven't been posting here much lately but this seems like a good time to throw out one of my periodic THANK YOU for your Photo of the Week efforts. They are much enjoyed and appreciated!

In the first photo, is that Apollo 7 launching in the background?

No, that's the Astrovan antenna. The photo was taken August 14.

In the interior photos, what's that area in the immediate left foreground... an equipment locker or equipment space?

All times are CT (US)
