The fully-mated Saturn SA-5 launch vehicle stands on the newly constructed Launch Complex 37. This was the first of the Saturn I block II vehicles, in which the second stage was "live" and was placed in Earth orbit. Launch of SA-5 was 29 January 1964. |

Great photo, Ed. Wasn't that the vehicle that President Kennedy saw on his visit to Cape Canaveral in November '63... and supposedly signed the first stage? |

Nice photo! Interesting that all Complex 37 launches were from Pad B. What was Pad A used for? Just built for a high projected launch rate, I guess.

All of the remaining Block-II Saturn 1 launches were made from this launch Complex. Meanwhile launch complex-34 was being up-rated for the Saturn 1B vehicle, beginning with AS-201. |

When Kennedy signed the first stage, the component would have been in the assembly building? Or was it already at the pad and tower? |

When President Kennedy visited, the vehicle was already on the pad.
