The fully-mated Saturn SA-5 launch vehicle stands on the newly constructed Launch Complex 37. This was the first of the Saturn I block II vehicles, in which the second stage was "live" and was placed in Earth orbit. Launch of SA-5 was 29 January 1964.

Great photo, Ed.

Wasn't that the vehicle that President Kennedy saw on his visit to Cape Canaveral in November '63... and supposedly signed the first stage?

Nice photo! Interesting that all Complex 37 launches were from Pad B. What was Pad A used for? Just built for a high projected launch rate, I guess.

All of the remaining Block-II Saturn 1 launches were made from this launch Complex. Meanwhile launch complex-34 was being up-rated for the Saturn 1B vehicle, beginning with AS-201.

When Kennedy signed the first stage, the component would have been in the assembly building? Or was it already at the pad and tower?

When President Kennedy visited, the vehicle was already on the pad.
