Gemini 8 astronauts Neil Armstrong (right) and Dave Scott relax as they are interviewed by reporters from LIFE magazine, about a week after their mission in March 1966. |

They sure do look relaxed. I wonder if that's a microphone sitting on the table (bottom right corner)? |

I notice that Armstrong is still sitting in the left hand "Commander's seat" on the couch. Force of habit from hundreds of hours in the Gemini simulator, or a 50-50 chance? |

Nice shot, I have never seen it before. That is definitely a reel-to-reel tape recorder microphone sitting on the coffee table. I cannot make out the manufacture, but it is obviously not Webcor or Ampex. I believe Armstrong is sitting "behind" Scott so Dave will answer most of the questions. The Life team is obviously off-camera to the left. Wordy responses were not Neil's forte ... unless he had a point to make. |

I'm going to guess Wollensak. |

Great guess!I Googled images of Wollensak tape recorders and one of the pictures showed the tape machine along with a microphone that looks identical to the one in Ed's image. |

Gemini 8So Dave's saying, "Neil! I can't go EVA! Look my suit trousers don't reach down to my boots. What are we going to do?" And Neil replies, "Leave it with me, I'll think of a way to go back down early." |
