Forty years ago the Apollo 12 astronauts were on their way home after the second lunar landing. In Mission Control in Houston their flight was followed with interest by the next team of moonwalkers, Jim Lovell and Fred Haise, still unaware of the nasty surprise that fate had in store for them.

Jim and Fred both look deep in thought ...Jim Lovell probably thinking 'One day I'll write a book about our mission, and maybe help to make a film about it'.

"Hey Jim, that's something to keep in mind when you and I, ... er, I mean Al and Ed trek up to Cone Crater."

Lunar EVA pictures of Lovell and Haise are something that will always be sorely missed.

I'd like to know what that book/manual is by Lovell's left elbow with the illustration of the LEM landing on it.

All times are CT (US)
