Forty years ago today, the crew of Apollo 11 was in the simulator at KSC for one of the final training sessions before launch. This is a view of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin operating the Lunar Module Simulator, while Mike Collins is doing his part in the Command Module Simulator. Ed Hengeveld |

Great photo Ed. The spacecraft details with all the switches and different parts never fails to amaze me particularly when the computer capabilities of that time were nowhere near what we have today. Makes me wonder how the spacecraft would be modified if we were going to land on the moon in this day and age.Pat P.S. Buzz is telling Neil, "It says right here if the computer overloads at 60 seconds, just ignore any alarm and keep going with the landing." |

Note: in this coming anniversary week the Photo of the Week feature will turn into a Photo of the Day. This will continue through the Apollo 11 mission and the crew's return to Houston. |

"Hey Neil, how about if I mow your lawn for the rest of the year and throw in a case of Lone Star, will you let me go out first then? ... ... drive your boys to softball every Saturday too? ... ... Neil?" |

Ed, very cool. I still can't believe all these events happened 40 years ago. |

Neil: "Hey, you want this felt tip pen or should I trash it? I like using pencils."Buzz: "Nah, just trash it...You know, on second thought, I'll hold on to it. Who knows? We might need it." |
