Forty years ago today, astronauts Aldrin, Armstrong and Collins were photographed in front of a LM mockup following a press conference at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston. The previous day they had been officially named as the crew for Apollo 11, the first lunar landing mission.

I like the fact that Buzz has a lapel pin and handkerchief in his suit pocket. Even 40 years ago he was well dressed and concerned about making a good impression for NASA. We're lucky to still have him as an ambassador today.
